Pedestrian injury attorney – get help from a skilled accident lawyer

Drivers frequently fail to give the right of way to pedestrians. Pedestrian accidents often occur when a person crosses a street, but can occur when a person is walking on the side of a street, in parking lots, recreational areas, and when cars crash onto sidewalks. Pedestrians can be injured by cars, trucks, and motorcycles. Injuries suffered by pedestrians are often severe, and typically include fractures, back injuries, internal organ injuries, head injuries and even wrongful death. If you or a family member have been injured as a result of a pedestrian accident, contact Cornelius Law.

Insurance coverage and compensation for pedestrian accidents

When a pedestrian accident occurs, the pedestrian has the same right to seek financial compensation as any motorist. Just like other accidents involving motor vehicles, an injured pedestrian can recover compensation for past and future medical expenses, lost wages or earning potential, and pain and suffering damages. If you or a family member have been injured as a result of a pedestrian accident, contact Cornelius Law.

Crosswalk pedestrian accidents

A driver of a vehicle in Washington State approaching a crosswalk has a duty of continuous observation to watch for pedestrians in a crosswalk. A pedestrian within a crosswalk has the right to assume that all drivers of approaching vehicles will yield the right of way to the pedestrian. This right continues until the pedestrian knows otherwise or until surrounding circumstances should have alerted the pedestrian to the fact that an approaching vehicle is not going to yield the right of way to the pedestrian. Absent such circumstances, a pedestrian within a crosswalk has no duty to look for approaching vehicles. If you or a family member have been injured as a result of a pedestrian accident, contact Cornelius Law.
